Men Make Easy Work of Lincoln

Southwestern Oklahoma State University will next play rival Northwestern Oklahoma State University in the next day of action at the SWOSU Basketball Classic.

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University hit Lincoln University from all angles as it buried the visiting Blue Lions 71-46 in the first men’s basketball game of the season. SWOSU will play Saturday in the final day of the SWOSU Classic against rival Northwestern Oklahoma. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Filip Toric scored 17 points and Chase Elliott added 14 as the Bulldogs put five players in double figure scoring. Marin Zelalija scored 13, Thomas Davis added 11 and Dominick Cornelius added 10 for the Bulldogs who played all 14 players who dressed in the lopsided win.

SWOSU scored 25 of the game’s first 30 points on its ray to a comfortable 32-21 lead at the break. Lincoln twice cut the lead to within nine points in the second half but each time SWOSU answered with a run of their own. The last of which came Toric hit a running layup that capped an 18-2 run that put SWOSU in front 57-32 with 8:17 to play.

SWOSU had two 30-point leads before Lincoln closed the final gap against Bulldog reserves.

SWOSU ended the game shooting 45% making 24-of-53 attempts. Lincoln made just 31% of its shots, connecting on just 16-of-52 attempts. The Bulldogs out rebounded Lincoln 39-36. Cornelius had the most of any player with seven.
